Truck Driver Killed In I-80 Crash In Berkeley

BERKELEY, CA — The driver of a semi was killed in Berkeley Friday morning when a tire blew on his truck, causing him to crash into a highway pillar on I-80. According to the CHP, the driver was thrown from his truck. He was taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries.

There were no other vehicles involved in the crash and no other injuries.

The CHP issued a sig-alert following the wreck. Several westbound lanes were closed for most of the morning as the truck was cleared away and investigators probed the cause of the crash.

It was reported just before 9 a.m.
