UC Berkeley’s Retirement Community is Nearly Open

A sneak peek into the services and pricing for Berkeley's newest senior living community.

Our team recently got more details about UC Berkeley and Belmont Village’s newest senior living community Belmont Village Albany.

The community will offer both Independent Living and Assisted Living services. The independent living pricing starts at $5,700 for the smallest 1-bedroom apartment and can go to $7,800 for their 2-bedroom units. Residents can expect services and amenities include things like: Two delicious chef-prepared meals served restaurant style daily in Josephine’s Kitchen, Snacks served between meals, Senior-focused social, recreational, educational and gardening activities, 24-hour emergency call response system, Daily scheduled transportation to nearby shops, physicians’ offices and special events, Weekly housekeeping, All utilities except private telephone, Cable TV programming, and Wireless Internet access throughout building.

The assisted living pricing starts at $6,050 for the smallest studio and $7,900 for the largest one bedroom unit. There may also be additional care fees and medication management fees. Residents in the assisted living units can expect the following services: Basic Personal Care (activity reminders and stand-by assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming and escorts), Basic Medication Management (10 meds or less), Three delicious chef-prepared meals served restaurant-style daily in Josephine’s Kitchen, Licensed Nurse on-site 24 hours a day, Regular monitoring of residents’ wellness and health assessments, Senior-focused social, recreational, educational and gardening activities, 24-hour emergency call response system, Daily scheduled transportation to nearby shops, physicians’ offices and special events, Weekly housekeeping and laundering of bed linens, Daily trash removal, All utilities except private telephone, and Cable TV programming.
