BERKELEY, CA — A man is in critical condition at a hospital after he was found unconscious with injuries to his head two blocks from the University of California at Berkeley campus early Tuesday morning, police said.
Officers found the victim, who appears to be between the ages of 40 and 50, in the 2400 block of Channing Way near the Berkeley Animal Rights Center and only two blocks from the Cal student union, shortly before 2 a.m. Tuesday after a man flagged them down, according to Berkeley police spokesman Officer Byron White.
White said the man was bleeding profusely and it's difficult to determine what caused his injuries, but investigators think he was hit in the head with a blunt object or possibly even stabbed.
