WWII Era Hand Grenade Found in Berkeley Planter Box

The device was still able to injure people, police report.

BERKELEY, CA - Police disposed of a World War II-era French military training hand grenade that someone found in a planter box Tuesday afternoon in Berkeley, police said today.

Dispatchers received a report at 4 p.m. of the discovery at a home in the 1200 block of Spruce Street.

The Police Department's explosive ordnance disposal team responded and disposed of the hand grenade, which was still capable of injuring someone, according to police.
