BEVERLY HILLS, CA — A shooting in Beverly Crest on Saturday that left three people dead and injured four others occurred during a gathering at a short-term rental, police said.

Seven people were shot around 2:30 a.m. in the 2700 block of Ellison Drive, according to Los Angeles Police Department public information officer Bruce Borihanh. Police had no suspect as of late Saturday morning but did not believe there to be a public threat.

Three people were pronounced dead on the scene, all of whom were found inside a parked car, Borihanh confirmed. Four others were taken to the hospital. Of the four injured, two are in critical condition and two are in stable condition.

Police did not release the identities of the victims.

Police said the shooting occurred at a home that was being rented out as a short-term rental. It was not immediately clear what was occurring at the home at the time of the shooting, but police are interviewing occupants and witnesses, Borihanh said.

Two people were taken to the hospital before police arrived, and the Los Angeles Fire Department took two others when they got to the scene.

A 20year resident of the neighborhood told Patch she didn't hear anything overnight, but said the neighborhood is quiet with "nice neighbors."

Many people approached the crime scene Saturday. One person could be seen dropping off a food delivery beyond the crime scene tape.

Anyone with information about the shooting should call Los Angeles police at 213-486-6890.

This is at least the sixth mass shooting in California this month, according to The Associated Press.

On Monday, a lone gunman entered a mushroom farm in Half Moon Bay and opened fire, killing four and leaving another seriously wounded, San Mateo County Sheriff's officials said. Authorities said he then drove to another farm where he had previously worked and killed another three people.

The shootings in Half Moon Bay came two days after an attack on a Lunar New Year celebration in Monterey Park killed 11 and cast a shadow over an important holiday for many Asian-American communities. Authorities are still seeking a motive for the Saturday shooting.

On Jan. 16, a teenage mother and her baby were among six people killed in a shooting at a home in California's Central Valley.

The killings have dealt a blow to the state, which has some of the nation’s toughest firearm laws and the lowest rates of gun deaths.
