Beverly Hills Police Step Up Speeding Enforcement In July

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Drivers can expect increased speeding enforcement across Beverly Hills as police deploy additional officers throughout July.

The Beverly Hills Police Department said officers are watching for motorists who exceed posted speed limits or drive too fast for traffic, weather and road conditions as part of National Speed Prevention Month.

“Speeding is dangerous and puts everyone at risk,” Beverly Hills Police Chief Max Subin said. “Your daily choice to drive within the speed limit protects everyone in our community.”

Speeding was involved in 11,288 traffic deaths nationwide in 2024, accounting for 29 percent of all roadway fatalities that year. California recorded 1,139 speeding-related deaths in 2024, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration cited by BHPD.

Even a small increase in speed gives drivers less time to react and increases the force of a crash, police said.

BHPD urged drivers to allow extra travel time, obey posted limits and slow down in school and work zones. Motorists should also adjust their speed for changing conditions and avoid aggressive behavior such as tailgating or weaving through traffic.

“Risky driving behaviors like speeding continue to cause preventable tragedies on California roads,” Subin said.
