The American Black Film Festival Returns to Los Angeles for a New Chapter in 2027 (theqgentleman.com) — A major film festival is coming to Los Angeles in May 2027 and will use SLS Beverly Hills as its central hub for industry talks, classes, and networking. Screenings will run at AMC The Grove, with shuttles linking venues including the Beverly Hills hotel, giving local residents a front-row seat to high-profile Black filmmaking, sports-focused programming, and new cross-cultural film sections.
   

5. Beverly Hills substitute teacher said she was fired over anti-Trump posts. Now she's suing the district (miamiherald.com) — A longtime substitute teacher is suing the Beverly Hills Unified School District, claiming she was fired from Beverly Hills High School over Facebook posts criticizing Donald Trump and describing a pro-Trump student rally. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, argues her political speech was protected and contrasts her firing with how the district handled on-campus pro-Trump demonstrations and alleged racial harassment.
