One Beverly Hills rental proposal divides commission - Beverly Press & Park Labrea News (beverlypress.com) — Beverly Hills' Planning Commission has backed medical and outpatient surgical uses at the massive One Beverly Hills development but split 2–2 over allowing 44 luxury residences to operate as short-term rentals through the Aman hotel. The deadlock sends both issues to the City Council, amid sharp debate over citywide short-term rental rules, tax revenue claims, and neighborhood quality-of-life impacts.
   

3. Man arrested in Beverly Hills stabbing - Beverly Press & Park Labrea News (beverlypress.com) — A 19-year-old Beverly Hills resident was arrested on Aug. 30 after a man was fatally stabbed in an alley off the 400 block of North Palm Drive, marking the city's second homicide this year. Beverly Hills police say the victim, believed to be unhoused, died after being stabbed in the neck, and they're asking anyone with information to contact detectives or submit anonymous tips.
   

4. West Hollywood Council Member Lauren Meister is Being Recognized as 'Democrat of the Year' (wehotimes.com) — Local Democrats from Beverly Hills and West Hollywood will gather September 19 at the SLS Hotel on La Cienega for the West Hollywood | Beverly Hills Democratic Club's revived "Democrat of the Year" awards. Beverly Hills Councilmember Lester Friedman is among four honorees recognized for work on public safety, economic resilience, and civic engagement, alongside West Hollywood's Lauren Meister and other regional leaders.
   

5. How Can Feminists Advance Racial Equity in a Post-DEI World? Join Book Talk With Ralina L. Joseph [Sept. 10 @ Ms. HQ in LA] (msmagazine.com) — A free feminist book talk and discussion on racial equity is coming to Ms. magazine's headquarters on South Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills on Thursday, Sept. 10, from 6–8 p.m. Author Ralina L. Joseph will explore "racial exhaustion" and strategies for sustaining antiracism work, with a conversation, Q&A, book signing, and light refreshments.
