Applications Open For Team Beverly Hills Program

The six-month program features nine class sessions and includes interactive experiences with City departments, officials said.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Applications for the Team Beverly Hills program will be accepted now through Friday, June 14, the City announced Thursday.

Team Beverly Hills gives residents a hands-on look at how the local government operations, the press release said. The six-month program features nine class sessions and includes interactive experiences with City departments, officials said.

“The Team Beverly Hills program was created to encourage leadership, celebrate community and inspire civic involvement. We hope participants take the knowledge they’ve gained and become more involved in the community,” said Larry Kohn, Team Beverly Hills Chairperson.

Program participants will explore the behind-the-scenes operations of public works, emergency management, information technology, the library, recreation and parks, and public safety. At least 640 residents have completed Team Beverly Hills since 1996, city officials said. In July, the Beverly Hills City Council will appoint 42 new members for the program, which kicks-off in September.

Citizens become more involved and informed about their City and community each year through programs like Team Beverly Hills, the press release said. More than 80 percent of all current elected officials and City Commissioners are Team Beverly Hills alumni and more than 100 alumni have volunteered their time at City events and programs, the City said.
