Beverly Hills City Council Returns To Virtual Meetings Amid Surge

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Highlighting concerns sparked by Los Angeles County's surge in COVID-19 cases, the Beverly Hills City Council announced Friday it will return to virtual-only meetings until further notice.

In its statement announcing a return to virtual meetings, Beverly Hills cited the recently enacted public health order mandating face coverings in indoor public settings regardless of vaccination status.

"The City Council will continue to monitor the latest data from (the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health)," according to the city.

The return to virtual meetings will also affect Beverly Hills city commission meetings.

Virtual meetings can be viewed at beverlyhills.org/live or on BHTV, Spectrum channel 10.

Culver City, meanwhile, announced Thursday it was suspending plans to transition City Council meetings to a hybrid format, featuring in-person attendance and virtual teleconference participation.

"In recent weeks, community transmission of COVID-19 throughout the county has rapidly increased from moderate to substantial," according to a statement from Culver City. "To help safeguard community health and safety, the city of Culver City will continue to conduct City Council and advisory board meetings in a teleconference format at this time until further notice."
