BEVERLY HILLS, CA — The Beverly Hills Police Department arrested a man in connection with Wednesday's fatal shooting of Jacqueline Avant, wife of iconic music executive Clarence Avant, police said in a news release.

Maynor will be taken to jail when he is released from the hospital, police said. His condition was not known.

She was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Police arrested Maynor after another home invasion burglary happened in Hollywood at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, Beverly Hills police said.

Police have video of a man's vehicle leaving Beverly Hills and heading eastbound shortly after Avant was shot, police said.

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the 6000 block of Graciosa Drive and determined a man had shot himself in the foot, Beverly Hills police said.

Beverly Hills police are investigating both home invasions and have collected evidence that connects the Hollywood home invasion to the one in Beverly Hills, police said. Evidence thus far shows there is only one suspect involved in the Beverly Hills crime, police said.

“Our deepest gratitude to The City of Beverly Hills, the BHPD and all law enforcement for their diligence on this matter. Now, let justice be served,” the Avant and Sarandos family said in a statement.

BHPD chief Mark Stainbrook on Thursday assured Beverly Hills residents they are safe. Police said they do not believe there is any further threat to public safety.

“To the Beverly Hills community, let me reassure you, this is one of the most protected and patrolled cities in the world. Crime of any kind will not be tolerated here. Let this be a message to anyone thinking of committing a crime in Beverly Hills: You will be caught and brought to justice,” Stainbrook said in a news conference.
