Free SAT and ACT practice exams are being offered by the Starting Edge, a College Exam Prep and Subject Tutoring service, on the following dates and locations:
Free SAT Exam on Sunday, Feb. 19, at 9:00 am (session ends 1:00 pm) at the Westside JCC( in conjunction with Harkham Gaon academy), 5870 w. Olympic Blvd (near San Vicente).

Free Act Exam on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 2:00 pm (session ends 6:00 pm) at Star Prep Academy, 1518 S. Robertson Blvd ( near Pico).
Seating is free, but limited to 11th graders and maximum capacity is 50. Interested students must register now. Students will need to bring 2 pencils (with eraser) and calculator

Dr. Weinberg, the director, explains ,” We use only the latest authorized exams released by the College Boards and ACT for practice tests! The first aspect to consider when evaluating the quality of a practice test is the test itself. It must be an official exam released by the test maker? If not, the quality of this practice test is suspect. No matter how closely someone might try to model official test material, nobody can match the real tests that have been tried out on millions of students over the years. “
“You also can’t go into an SAT or ACT Exam without sitting through a real test first! You must know your opponent before going in for the fight! You will get the results that day and we can review the best options for your student’s preparation in a personal consultation”
The Starting Edge, LLC, is dedicated to delivering educational skills young adults need for College success. Dr. Norbert Weinberg brings over 20 years of experience in education, having operated one of the few WASC-accredited supplemental education programs in the Los Angeles area, the Huntington Learning Center in Encino. SAT and ACT Exam Prep was a major component of the program and the Center delivered high quality individualized instruction to two thousand students of all grade levels from both private and public schools, which included the Los Angeles Unified School District under a Federal education program.
