Glorya Kaufman Continues Her Movement to Uplift Young Lives
VISTA DEL MAR CHILD & FAMILY SERVICES BREAK GROUND ON THE GLORYA KAUFMAN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER AND THERAPEUTIC DANCE PROGRAM
On the morning of October 11, 2018, Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services’ leadership, including President and CEO Nancy Tallerino, Board Chair Laurie Konheim, and V.P. Development and Marketing, Craig Prizant, gathered to offer words of deep gratitude to world-class Philanthropist Glorya Kaufman, who gifted a brand new theater building and dance program to Vista’s children of all circumstance and ability.
Craig Prizant underscored the impact and import of this extraordinary donation, noting that Glorya Kaufman proves time and time again that one person’s brilliant vision and values can change the world.
Vista’s Theater Arts Program students moved everyone in attendance by their joyful drumming and dance performance, a tribute to the power of purpose, passion and connection to those of like mind and heart.

The Glorya Kaufman Performing Arts Center, designed by AUX Architecture’s Brian Wickersham and contractor, Turelk Inc., will be complete in the fall of 2019 and will be home to a 300-seat theater and rehearsal space aligned with the Glorya Kaufman Therapeutic Dance Program. Vista’s Jewish Life Program and holiday services will enjoy a home on site as well. At the completion of the school day, rehearsal studios will be available for rental, thereby extending the positive impact of this extraordinary donation on the adjacent community.
Glorya Kaufman has experienced a lifelong love for and involvement with dance. She is passionate about the boundless potential of movement to heal the body, mind and spirit and to cultivate a transformative healing form of expression for children with special needs. “I feel extremely privileged to have the life that I have and the means to make a difference in the lives of others”.

Glorya’s gift is part of Vista Del Mar’s Premiere Philanthropy Initiative under the leadership of Craig Prizant, which includes recent extraordinary gifts and therapeutic programs including those from The Francesconi-Tisch Charitable Fund, who created Katia’s Garden and flourishing healthy lifestyle program, John Paul DeJoria’s Peace, Love, and Happiness Foundation, which gifted Vista’s children the opportunity to root and rise by means of an on-site garden, orchard, and horticulture program, and the Herb Alpert Foundation who established The Eden Alpert Music Program.
The guiding principle of Premiere Philanthropy is to innovate life affirming sustainable Signature donations, including state of the art therapeutic programs and services that yield transformative positive effects on the lives of the more than 5000 disadvantaged children and families that Vista serves in Los Angeles each year.
