Gran Fondo Italia Rides into Beverly Hills this Weekend

The city of Beverly Hills will welcome cyclists from around the world on Sunday, September 28, 2014, for the Gran Fondo Italia. – an Italian-style cycling ride featuring 48 and 90 mile courses.

“We are thrilled to host the Gran Fondo Italia!” said Beverly Hills Mayor Lili Bosse. “An event like this is inspirational for our community! We can build on our Healthy City initiative and raise awareness for cycling as a sport, and as a fun way to exercise. It is also a wonderful opportunity for cyclists and cycling fans to experience Beverly Hills.”

Beginning at 7 a.m., cyclists of all levels will depart Rodeo Drive between S. Santa Monica Blvd and Dayton Way, ride through Los Angeles to Pacific Coast Highway, tour the Santa Monica Mountains, take on the Piuma Road hill-climb, and roll into an exciting finish at Beverly Hills City Hall around 10:30a.m. The 400 block of North Rodeo Drive will be closed from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. to accommodate riders.

A post-ride celebration, raffle and awards-ceremony featuring hill climb winner jerseys will take place on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in Beverly Cañon Gardens, located at 241 Cañon Drive. Free self-parking is available in the Beverly Cañon Gardens parking structure with entrances located at 241 N. Cañon Drive and 242 N. Beverly Drive.

All weekend long, cyclists and guests are invited to attend a complimentary two-day expo hosted from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Beverly Cañon Gardens, featuring food, drink, entertainment, and merchandise. Some of the best cycling brands in the market will preview 2015 products, along with great deals on a range of cycling accessories, including original Gran Fondo Italia products.
