K-9 Sherlock Sniffs Out $40K Of Heroin, Meth Going To LA Jails
The furry detective didn't have Watson, but still helped uncover an alleged conspiracy to transport illegal narcotics into LA County jails.
BEVERLY HILLS, CA – Los Angeles County Sheriff's detectives and their new K-9 partner Sherlock helped uncover heroin and methamphetamine in an investigation into a conspiracy to transport illegal narcotics into the Los Angeles County jail system, officials announced Tuesday.
Detectives assigned to the Custody Investigative Services Jail Task Force and Operation Safe Jails investigated the case and served a search warrant at a suspect's Los Angeles-area home on Oct. 23, resulting in a felony arrest and the recovery of approximately 120 grams of heroin and methamphetamine with a "jail value" of over $40,000, a press release said.
The drugs were packaged and ready for delivery into the Los Angeles County custody facilities, the sheriff's department said.

Due to the nature of an ongoing investigation, the names of the suspects were not released.
The Custody Investigative Services Unit is responsible for custody investigations ranging from assaults, gang crimes and regularly collaborates with other LASD investigative unit, the press release said.
