'Mummy's' Curse No Match For 'Wonder Woman's' Might

"The Mummy" opened with a respectable $31.7 million, but landed well behind "Wonder Woman."

LOS ANGELES, CA — Tom Cruise was no match for "Wonder Woman" at North American theaters, with the DC superhero burying Cruise's "The Mummy" to maintain the top spot at the box office, according to final figures released Monday.

"Wonder Woman" collected more than $58.5 million between Friday and Sunday, giving it a two-week total of $206.3 million, according to comScore.

An animated superhero took third place, with "Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie" earning $12.2 million in its second weekend in theaters. A pair of Disney movies completed the top five films of the weekend, with "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" collecting $10.7 million and "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" earning $6.3 million.

Rounding out the top 10 films of the weekend were "It Comes At Night" ($6 million); "Baywatch" ($4.6 million); "Megan Leavey" ($3.8 million); "Alien: Covenant" ($1.8 million); and "Everything, Everything" ($1.6 million).
