New Lawsuits Filed Against Beverly Hills Police Chief

Beverly Hills police employees claim they were "marginalized, faced retaliation or were denied workplace protections," according to reports.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – Four more lawsuits were filed by Beverly Hills Police Department employees against the BHPD Police Chief Sandra Spagnoli who claim they were "marginalized, faced retaliation, or were denied workplace protections" by Spagnoli and the city, NBC reported.

The Police Chief is facing a mounting number of lawsuits filed by employees for insensitive comments, including those about a police captain's religion. As of Friday, at least 10 BHPD employees have filed legal complaints, alleging they've lost pay, benefits and professional standing due to the Chief's actions, the news station reported.

Spagnoli has not commented directly on the lawsuits.

A statement obtained by NBC Los Angeles from the Beverly Hills City Attorney said the city is "deeply disappointed by the personal attacks on the integrity of our Police Department."

Spagnoli was named the city's first female chief in 2016 after a long career in law enforcement, and her promotional made national news, even landing her in Vogue magazine.
