Man Injures Actress' Son In Car-Smashing Rampage In Beverly Hills

The man was charged with vandalism, cruelty to a child, and battery Friday.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – A man that allegedly smashed the window of a car with an actress' 4-year-old son inside in Beverly Hills was charged with vandalism, cruelty to a child, and battery Friday. Paul Francis Floyd, 47, of Los Angeles, is expected to be arraigned sometime Friday at the Airport Branch Courthouse.

The boy, who's the son of Jaime King, was hit by shattered glass while inside his mother's Mercedes-Benz during the man's car-smashing rampage about 4:40 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of North Bedford Drive, near Santa Monica Boulevard, according to Beverly Hills police.

Officers arrived "within minutes and promptly detained the suspect," who had been "kicking and jumping on" two vehicles, police said. Floyd was being held in lieu of $100,453 bail, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department inmate records, and was expected to make a court appearance Friday.

The boy was struck by shattered glass as he was seated in his car seat inside the vehicle with a friend of King, who was outside the vehicle. When they friend emerged from the vehicle with the boy, the suspect allegedly threw a can at her, which struck her arm, police said.

Floyd was booked on suspicion of child endangerment, vandalism and battery, police said.

Some paparazzi were recording the aftermath and police are investigating if any of them committed "intentional harassment of a child or ward of another person because of that person's employment," which is a criminal violation in California, police said.

King is best known for her co-starring role on the 2011-2015 CW comedy-drama "Heart of Dixie."
