Ridley Scott to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award from Directors Guild
He will receive the award during the 69th annual DGA Awards ceremony Feb. 4 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA -- Director Ridley Scott, best known for classic films such as "Alien," "Blade Runner" and "Thelma & Louise," will receive a lifetime achievement award from the Directors Guild of America, the union announced Tuesday.
"Masterful in any genre, Ridley's groundbreaking methods and peerless directing instincts have brought to life some of the most memorable films of our time, capturing the resilience of the human spirit and captivating the hearts and minds of audiences around the world," DGA President Paris Barclay said.
Scott will receive the guild's Lifetime Achievement Award for Distinguished Achievement in Motion Picture Direction during the 69th annual DGA Awards ceremony Feb. 4 at the Beverly Hilton.

Previous recipients of the honor include Cecil B. DeMille, Alfred Hitchcock, Orson Welles, Billy Wilder, Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Milos Forman and Frank Capra.
Scott's other directing credits include "Black Hawk Down," "Gladiator," "The Martian," "Prometheus," "Black Rain," "Kingdom of Heaven," "G.I. Jane" and "Hannibal."

Scott, who began his directing career in television advertising before moving to films in the 1970s, created the Scott Free production company with his late brother Tony in 1995. The company has produced films includomg "The A- Team," "The Grey" and "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford," and television shows including "The Good Wife" and "The Man in the High Castle."
