Sonas Denim: A Hip Patchwork Collection from Dublin Designer Gerry Kelly

Eco-friendly designs give back to homeless animals

Gerry Kelly made his way from Dublin to California with high hopes and big dreams. What Kelly didn’t know at the time is that his trip to San Francisco’s famous Haight Street would forever change his life. It all started with a pair of patchwork denim!

While Kelly rarely left home without wearing his new hippie-style jeans from Haight Street, the day eventually came when they wore out, and he was unable to find a replacement. Though hope was not lost… Kelly became inspired to make a patchwork collection of his own.

After months of scouring San Francisco shops for unused, discarded denim, Kelly and his wife laid layers of the colorful patches on their floor, stitching each piece together one by one to create their one denimwear. The eco-friendly Sonas Denim lifestyle brand came to life, and the company’s mission is a cruelty-free collection that not only brings happiness to the consumer, but to our animal friends as well.
