Stacey Dash, Of 'Clueless,' Fox News Fame, Running For Congress
Stacey Dash, "Clueless" actress and former Fox News black culture critic, is running to represent Compton, Carson and Watts in Congress.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Stacey Dash, the actress who parlayed her “Clueless” fame into a brief but controversial stint on Fox News, is running for Congress.
According to papers Dash filed with the Federal Election Commission, Dash seeks to represent California’s 44th Congressional District, a predominately minority district that includes Compton, Carson, Watts, Lynwood and San Pedro. A Republican running in a Democratic stronghold, the 51-year-old faces an uphill battle, mainly for the infamy she garnered in minority communities as a strident critic of former President Barack Obama and leaders of black culture.
A Fox News culture commentator from 2014 until her 2017 firing, Dash was infamously suspended for suggesting on air that Obama didn’t appear to give an [expletive] about terrorism. She also garnered headlines for suggesting America stop celebrating black history month and airing stations like Black Entertainment Television in response to criticism of an Oscars ceremony lacking in diversity.

“A number of people online and off have suggested I run for political office,” she tweeted. “I wanted to see what my online community thinks of this idea as I mull the possibilities. Thoughts?”
The response was mixed.
“I'm all for it. The government could use a Dash of the right stuff,” tweeted one fan.
“Still clueless,” scoffed another.
“The online community will pay you not to,” offered another person.
