Study Suggests This Crazy Fact About Coffee Drinkers

A recent scientific study reveals a crazy fact about coffee drinkers that might have you reaching for a cup of Joe.

There are two types of people in the world – those who drink coffee and those who don’t. While we normally follow the motto, “to each their own,” a new study suggests that coffee drinkers might have a leg up on their decaffeinated counterparts. Your trusted colonoscopy Los Angeles provider, Gastroenterology Institute of Southern California, shares the study and what it says about coffee drinkers.

The Big Reveal

Now the moment you have all been waiting for… Coffee drinkers might live longer! Various scientific studies have been leading to this conclusion for many years, but the latest one might have an answer as to why. The study uncovered an inflammatory process that might contribute to cardiovascular disease in older individuals. The same study also discovered that caffeine could possibly counter the inflammatory process they discovered.

The Study

Researchers grouped healthy adults, aged 20-30, together and used healthy adults, aged 60 and over, as the other group. Blood samples of each individual were then analyzed, uncovering two “highly activated” gene clusters in the older group. These gene clusters were linked to producing IL-1-beta, an inflammatory protein.

In the next phase, the group of older subjects were grouped again, this time based on whether they exhibited high or low activity in the gene clusters identified above. The group with high activity gene clusters showed increased problems with their heart health. Fortunately, the study also showed that drinking coffee might prevent the inflammation triggered by these gene clusters. However, more research is needed to prove this to be a fact.
