Two In Custody After Stealing Vehicles And Leading Police On Pursuit

Police first spotted the stolen Lexus near Sunset Boulevard and Rexford Drive.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — A man and a woman are in custody after leading police on two short pursuits in a stolen vehicle early Wednesday in Beverly Hills, police said.

Police first spotted the stolen Lexus at 12:34 a.m. in the area of Sunset Boulevard and Rexford Drive and lost the vehicle within a minute, according to Beverly Hills police Lt. Scott Dowling.

"We believe they went up in the hills," Dowling said.

The vehicle was spotted again shortly after 1 a.m. about two blocks away from where it was first seen and another short pursuit ensued. It ended in the area of Sunset Boulevard and Copley Drive where the suspects abandoned the car, Dowling said.

One of the suspects was taken into custody about a block away and the other was found hiding by a police dog, Dowling said.
