United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Presents 'Two Americans Who Defied The Nazis'
The Museum seeks to make critical investments to keep Holocaust memory alive as a relevant, transformative force in the 21st century

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum presents “Two Americans Who Defied the Nazis,” to nearly 100 guests on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at William Morris Endeavor Entertainment Screening Room in Beverly Hills, Calif. Attending the program, from left, Gretchen Skidmore, the Museum’s director on education initiatives; Rabbi Susan Nanus, Wilshire Boulevard Temple, and Dana M. Perlman, member on the United States Holocaust Memorial Council.
In early 1939, Waitstill and Martha Sharp, a young Unitarian minister and a social worker, moved to Prague and aided hundreds of refugees fleeing Nazi persecution. Guests learned about the Sharps’ remarkable actions and their collection of personal papers that have been donated to the Museum. Through its national campaign Never Again: What You Do Matters, led by honorary chair Elie Wiesel, the Museum seeks to make critical investments to keep Holocaust memory alive as a relevant, transformative force in the 21st century.
