You'll Never Guess California's Most Googled Celebrities
Ever wonder if your fellow Californians are Googling the same celebrities, athletes, musicians, and politicians as you are?

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – We've all been there – when a celebrity rumor is just a little too juicy, you throw on your trench coat, put on your detective hat, and Google to your heart's desire. Is Kylie Jenner really pregnant? Is Justin Timberlake nervous about a second Super Bowl nip slip? The rumor mill perpetually turns, and thus the celebrity Google searches do too.
If you've ever wondered which celebrities, musicians, and politicians get Googled the most, or if your fellow Californians are just as obsessed with Jennifer Lawrence as you are, this Dana Rebecca Designs study is here to answer your questions.
The top 10 most Googled celebrities nationwide are:
- Kim Kardashian
- Kylie Jenner
- Brad Pitt
- Angelina Jolie
- Bella Thorne
- Emma Watson
- Jennifer Aniston
- Kendall Jenner
- Khloe Kardashian
- Scarlett Johansson
While the entire country is under the Kardashian spell, California couldn't care less. Our most Googled celebrity is Miranda Kerr. The Australian model is a Victoria's Secret Angel, owns her own skincare line called KORA Organics, and she married her second husband in May 2017. Curiosity may kill the cat, but it'll never kill Google.

Although it's the Super Bowl, the most Googled athlete is surprisingly not a football player. However, the list has a nice variety of boxers, basketball players, football players and more. Only one woman – professional wrestler Ronda Roussey – made the list of most Googled athletes.
The top 10 most Googled athletes nationwide are:
- Conor McGregor
- Lebron James
- Tom Brady
- Stephen Curry
- Kyrie Irving
- OJ Simpson
- Ronda Roussey
- Tiger Woods
- Kevin Durant
- Floyd Mayweather
California's most Googled athlete doesn't appear on the top 10 list, but he's played for a team in the golden state. It's Matt Kemp, former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder. Most recently he played for the Atlanta Braves in the 2016-2017 season.

Googling musicians may make more sense than Googling celebrities or athletes – "when is the new album coming out, and when are they coming to perform in my city?" are all practical and fair questions to ask the search engine.
The top 10 most Googled musicians nationwide are:
- Ariana Grande
- Lady Gaga
- Selena Gomez
- Beyonce
- Justin Bieber
- Taylor Swift
- Nicki Minaj
- Rihanna
- Kanye West
- Mariah Carey
Again, California couldn't care less about national trends. Our most Googled celebrity is Morrissey, former lead singer of The Smiths. It's no surprise the blue state has an affinity for the "Meat is Murder" singer. In Fall of 2017, he cancelled a California concert because it was chilly outside – maybe all of those Google searches were "Is Morrissey going to show up to the [insert city name] concert tonight?"
In the midst of one of the most contentious political climates in the country's history, the list of most-Googled politicians is unsurprising. The 2016 election was an emotional, tumultuous time in the United States and the list reflects that – over half of the politicians in the top 10 were key players in the last election.
The top 10 most Googled politicians nationwide are:
- Donald Trump
- Hillary Clinton
- Barack Obama
- Bernie Sanders
- Mike Pence
- Bill Clinton
- John McCain
- Paul Ryan
- Elizabeth Warren
- Joe Biden
However, Californians were more interested in the salacious storyline of Anthony Weiner, the former Democratic New York congressman caught up in multiple sexting scandals. In 2011, he sent an explicit picture of himself to a woman on his public Twitter account, and in 2013 he sent more graphic photos to a 22-year-old. In 2016, Daily Mail reported that Weiner sexted with a 15-year-old – he was sentenced to 21 months in prison in Sept. 2017.
So it's official, California doesn't follow national trends. Our most Googled public figures are Miranda Kerr, Matt Kemp, Morrissey, and Anthony Weiner. To read more about the study, see Dana Rebecca Designs.
