2 Weeks Of Nightly 405 Freeway Closures Begin

Get ready for nighttime drive delays thanks to two weeks of San Diego (405) Freeway near Los Angeles International Airport.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Fifteen nights of partial and full closures on the San Diego (405) Freeway near Los Angeles International Airport promise to make for slow going starting Monday night.

The closures are designed to accommodate construction of a bridge for the Crenshaw/LAX Line light rail project. The closures will feature overnight full or partial directional closures from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday to Friday, although the freeway will be fully open during the weekends.

The scheduled closures include:

  • northbound lanes completely closed between Century and La Tijera boulevards overnights Monday evening through Friday night;
  • partial closure of the northbound and southbound high occupancy vehicle lanes and the 1 and 2 lanes from Aug. 7 to Aug. 11; and
  • southbound lanes fully closed between the La Cienega off-ramp and La Tijera on-ramp Aug. 14 to Aug. 18.
