Alumni Football Looking For Sign Ups
Local former high school football players who want to suit up again can join new league.

If you played football in high school and are just itching to suit up again, Gridiron Alumni may just have an opportunity for you.
The company, started by Chris Hall in 2010, organizes full-contact football games between the alumni of rival high schools. University High alums can once again go up against Pali High alums.
Each team must be at least 75 percent alumni, which does allow for guys who have ties to the community but did not go to high school here to play. Hall said that the focus is the actual alumni of a school mostly to prevent teams from pulling in ringers from outside the area.

"We don't want to punish transplants," he said about players who no longer live near where they went to high school. "But we don't want you calling up your cousin who used to play tailback for USC."
And Hall said they will look at team make up on a case-by-case basis, if there aren't enough actual alums in a given area. They have also combined school teams.

The company provides the gear. They are looking for sign-ups in the Brentwood area. Hall noted that there was an attempt last year to float a team, but they couldn't get enough sign-ups.
It's free to register, but will cost between $70 to $100 to play, depending on when you get your check in. Also, the games are set up as an event, with an admission charge for spectators, but the company does donate any concession sales to the host school or other charity.
Interested players can go to the company site, GridironAlumni.com, for more information and to register.
