ARCHER & SANTA MONICA ORTHOPEDIC GROUP TO HOST SPORTS INJURY PREVENTION CLINIC at Santa Monica College on May 9th
The Archer School for Girls (Brentwood) and The Santa Monica Orthopedic Group will co-host a Sports Injury Prevention Clinic on May 9th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Santa Monica College. The event is free and open to all coaches, parents and young athletes, ages 12 to 18. Dr. Bert Mandelbaum (see bio below) will lead a discussion on the importance of proper injury prevention through the FIFA 11+ exercises in the SMC Pavilion. Soccer superstar Omar Gonzalez will oversee the instruction of the exercises on the SMC Field, while Mitek will host a autograph signing and give-away on the field.
Registration is done by Athletic Directors, coaches and/or parents through an official evite. Schools and programs interested in this highly informative and important event are required to act quickly, entries will be limited to the first 500 athletes to register.

7:30-8:00- Closing comments, festive gathering with info booths, autographs, food and beverage.
Dr. Bert Mandelbaum World renown surgeon and physician, Dr. Bert Mandelbaum is the director of Fellowship for Santa Monica Orthopedic Group. He was instrumental in the development of new techniques in the prevention of ACL injuries in children and adolescents. His techniques and exercises have proven to be effective in the prevention of knee injuries. In addition to his ACL studies, he is team physician of the LA Galaxy and Chivas USA Major League Soccer teams. He has served as USA team physician for World Cup since 1994, Medical Officer of the Olympic games since 2000 and is also a part of FIFA's Sports Medicine Committee in addition to his service with many other projects.
Omar GonzalezMajor League Soccer player Omar Gonzalez was drafted first round in the 2009 MLS draft and was named Rookie of the Year. In 2010, Gonzalez played in the MLS all star game and was named MLS Best XI. After suffering an ACL tear early in the season in 2012, he made his debut back in July and later became Man of the Match in the 2012 MLS cup.

Santa Monica CollegeSMC is located at 1900 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica, CA 90405. Buses bringing participants to the event are advised to drop off on Pearl Street at 16th Street. Parking for all other vehicles is available in the parking structure at Pico Blvd. and 17th street or in the metered spots along Pearl Street between 16th Street and 20th Street.
