Arnold Schwarzenegger Endorses Republican John Kasich for President

The former California governor and Hollywood movie star appeared at a Kasich rally in Ohio over the weekend.


Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger endorsed Republican presidential candidate and Ohio Governor John Kasich at a rally in Columbus, Ohio on Sunday.

"I want John Kasich to be the next nominee of the Republicans and also to be the next president of the United States.”

Schwarzenegger, who lives in Brentwood, told those in attendance at the rally that he’d followed Kasich since the 1980s and has often campaigned for him.

“He was an action hero when he went to Washington.”

Schwarzenegger praised Kasich for his financial chops, noting that as House Budget Committee Chairman he pushed through the first balanced budget "since the man walked on the moon." Schwarzenegger also credited Kasich for reducing taxes and creating hundreds of thousands of jobs. "Right now, we need leadership like that,” he told the crowd.

“We need John Kasich to now take charge and be at the White House."

The Ohio primary will be held next week, Mar. 15. The state is winner-take-all -- with 66 delegates at stake.
