Learn from those who have been there before.
Got that? Learn from those who have been there before.
I know that you all want to be more successful in school; you want to be a successful student. But oftentimes, we act or think in ways that make success harder for ourselves. I want you to get out of your own way!
One way to get out of your own way is to learn from those who have been there before. And who’s been there before? Your parents, teachers, coaches, counselors…
Approach school with an open mind and an open heart. What does that mean?
1. An open mind. Approach all of your classes with a positive attitude and be grateful that you get to learn a whole bunch of new stuff this year! Even if you feel like you know everything that there is to know and you’ve got life all figured out, try approaching Back to School with the mindset that maybe you can learn something new, and that maybe people who have already experienced what you’re going through may be able to help you improve what you’re already doing. Approach school with an open mind that you can always learn something new and that you can always grow and improve.
2. An open heart. Have empathy for your teachers, parents, counselors and coaches. Empathy is the ability to understand somebody else’s thoughts, feelings, and emotions from their point of view. Make an effort to understand where they’re coming from. Take the time to realize that we are all on the same team and that we all want you to be successful. How may your relationship with your teachers be different if you really took the time to remember that they want to help you and that they want you to succeed?
This Back to School to season, learn from those who have been there before.
Your school, your family, and your community are FULL of people who want to teach you, help you, make your life easier and see you succeed.
However, only you can choose whether or not you want to learn from them.
Choose wisely....
Have a great Back to School! You got this! Good luck!
