Flyin' Fiddles, Twangy Banjos, Ping-Pong and Poetic Genius Are In the Wind

Listen to light bluegrass or deep poetry. Play ping-pong or run with the wind. Any way you do it, something is cooking this weekend.

If you don't grin when  the fiddles are a-flyin' and the banjos are a-twangin' and the bass is goin' thump-de-thump-thump—like when a hot bluegrass band plays—you need to see a doctor.

No worries! UCLA's ace hospital is near UCLA's Fowler Museum where UCLA's Bluegrass and Old-Time String Band is jamming for free Thursday.

And highbrows shouldn't miss a chance to see one of America's literary treasures, Maya Angelou.
