Patelco and CO-OP Financial Services partner to donate $25,000 for local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals

Donation to Help Fund Medical Equipment, Clinical Research and Programs to Care for Children Regardless of Injury, Illness or Family Income

Patelco Credit Union along with CO-OP Financial Services, a payments and financial technology company serving credit unions, have donated a combined $25,000 to the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland and UC Davis Children’s Hospital in Sacramento, part of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The donations will help fund medical equipment, and clinical research and programs critical to the hospital’s mission to care for all children regardless of injury, illness or family income.

“It is through the generosity of partners like Patelco and CO-OP that we are able to support our community children through high-quality patient care, cutting-edge and innovative research efforts, education programs for the next generation of pediatricians and addressing the health needs in our community and beyond,” said Anthony Candito, Director, Children's Miracle Network, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals Foundation.

This is the second year Patelco has collaborated with CO-OP through the CU4kids Shop for Miracles Program in order to qualify for their generous CO-OP Miracle Match dollars to donated funds. This year, Patelco is making a donation of $15,000 and will be awarded CO-OP's match of $10,000 for the collective $25,000.

“CO-OP’s participation in Shop for Miracles gives credit unions the opportunity to generate goodwill with their members and develop greater awareness by the public of the tangible importance of credit unions in their local communities,” said Sarah Canepa Bang, Executive Vice President of Industry Relations for CO-OP Financial Services. “More people need to know the credit union story and campaigns like this help us get the conversation started.”

In the last four years, Patelco’s holiday campaign fundraising efforts, with the support of members and partners such as CO-OP, have surpassed $100,000—all benefiting local Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.

“It is humbling and exciting to see our members and team step up to support our community’s most vulnerable children,” said Erin Mendez, Patelco’s CEO and President. “These amazing kids and their families face daily challenges with courage and dignity, and we hope our donation will support the research and technology necessary to improve their quality of life and treatment.”

In addition to this latest donation, Patelco also annually supports several other CU4kids fundraising events such as the SACTOWN Run, CU4Kids Golf Tournament and the CU4Kids Wine Auction. All donations from these events directly fund the work of the Children’s Miracle Network.
