Trail Improvement Project at Shell Ridge Open Space June 27-29, 2014

Join Volunteers for Outdoor California, in partnership with the City
of Walnut Creek Open Space Division, for trail improvement and camaraderie at
the Shell Ridge Open Space.  Volunteers
may participate for a day or the weekend, with optional camping at the Hanna
Grove Activity Area of Shell Ridge near Borges Ranch.  V-O-Cal provides
all food for the weekend, tools, trained crew leaders and organization. On
Saturday night there will be music and other entertainment.   Volunteers
for Outdoor California is a respected, experienced volunteer organization which
has completed dozens of large scale projects throughout the greater Bay Area from
Sonoma to Big Sur, and from San Francisco to Brentwood.  The Shell Ridge project
occurs in oak woodlands and grassland savannah habitat. It primarily targets an
eroded and deteriorated, heavily used feeder trail from Wiget Lane into the
Upper and Lower Buck Trails, which will be redesigned to provide proper
drainage and re-establish the trail surface for proper slope and improved alignment.
Additional details and registration are at www.v-o-cal.org.
