Trump Appoints Chair Of Brentwood Firm As Ambassador

Vintage Capital Group CEO Carla Sands was named Denmark ambassador by the president.

BRENTWOOD, CA – Carla Sands, the chairman and CEO of the Brentwood- based investment firm Vintage Capital Group, was appointed as U.S. ambassador to Denmark by President Donald Trump Thursday.

Sands became the firm's chairman and CEO following her husband Fred's death in October 2015. She is a member of Pepperdine University's board and has also served on boards of organizations supporting the arts and culture.

Sands is a chiropractic doctor, having earned a degree from Life Chiropractic College, Marietta, GA, and was a television and film actress, the White House said.

She was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to the board of the California Cultural and Historical Endowment, and also chairs The Blue Ribbon, an organization that supports the Los Angeles Music Center and produces the Children’s Festival each spring, according to Vintage Capital.

She was a board member of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association and has chaired and co-chaired events and galas to benefit the Philharmonic, the Kennedy Center and the Los Angeles Police Foundation, among other groups. In 2010, Sands and her husband, Fred, were the Honorees of Walk on the Wildside/L.A. Alive! for their contributions to the arts of Los Angeles and the Music Center, her company bio states.

Like all ambassadorial appointments, Sands' nomination is subject to Senate confirmation.
