UPDATE: Palihi Welcomes New Principal Dr. Magee

Students, faculty, staff and parents met new Principal Pamela Ann Magee with a warm welcome Monday afternoon at Palisades Charter High School.

Dr. Magee, who is originally from Mississippi, moved to Southern California about 15 years ago with her husband. She had been teaching English in the Atlanta area.

Magee began her Southern California career at Manhattan Beach's Mira Costa High School as the activities director, and then moved to Ventura County's Oak Park High School where she was the assistant principal. She has served as principal of Culver City High School for the past six years.

Educational consulting firm The Cosca Group began the search by meeting with the Palihi school board and community members. Cosca staffers say their goal is to create long-lasting bonds between their candidates and the schools. According to Cosca, in 11 years only two of its placements have left their jobs. All the other placements who have vacated their posts have done so to retire. 

Magee will officially begin as principal in July, but is excited to start getting to know her students. 

Maria Haskin served as the interim principal for the 2007-08, 2009-10 and 2010-11 school years.
