Wilshire Boulevard To Close Friday Through Monday
BREAKING: The first of 18 weekend-long Wilshire Boulevard closures to begin Friday.
LOS ANGELES, CA — A stretch of Wilshire Boulevard will be closed Friday night and throughout the weekend -- the first of 18 consecutive weekend closures near Fairfax Avenue to accommodate work on the Metro Purple Line subway extension.
Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday and continuing until 6 a.m. Monday, Wilshire will be closed between Spaulding and Fairfax avenues. It's the first of 10 planned weekend closures of the stretch.
After that work is finished, there will be four weekend closures of the Wilshire-Fairfax intersection, followed by four weekend closures of Wilshire between Fairfax and Crescent Heights Boulevard.

Residents and motorists were advised to plan ahead, follow street detours and allow extra time to get through the area.
The scheduled work will be done by contractor Skanska Traylor Shea, which will excavate portions of Wilshire and adjacent sidewalks and replace them with concrete deck panels that will serve as a temporary street surface, according to Metro.
