• Peanuts Music Owner Makes US Government Pay for Christmas Song; It Can Still Infringe Again (techtimes.com) — A Burlingame-based family company that controls the classic Peanuts Christmas music just forced both a federal agency and a private brand to pay for using Vince Guaraldi's tunes without permission. The firm is aggressively policing unlicensed use on TikTok, Instagram, and even video games, setting precedents that show how smaller Burlingame rights-holders can still stand up to big players and the U.S. government.
   

• Meta trial that could reshape Facebook, Instagram gets underway (kansascity.com) — Burlingame pops up here only as the site of a Meta retail store shown in a photo, while the real news is a major federal trial in Oakland over whether Facebook and Instagram were designed to addict young users. A coalition of 29 states is seeking huge penalties and changes to Meta's platforms, with testimony expected from Mark Zuckerberg and Instagram chief Adam Mosseri over the coming weeks.
