2020 U.S. Census Results: The Changing Demographics Of Calabasas

CALABASAS, CA — The last 10 years have marked a dramatic shift in the demographic makeup of the United States, with a marked shrinkage of the white population and the rapid growth of the Hispanic community.

These changes were reflected in Calabasas, where the share of the white population fell by 6.31 percent while the Hispanic population grew by 31.94 percent. The Asian population and the Black/African American population grew by 10.47 percent and 44.66 percent, respectively.

Calabasas also showed an increase in the number of people who identified themselves as multiracial, although the reasons are complex. Experts say the increase reflects changes in the way people identify themselves as well the number of children born to parents of mixed races or ethnicities, along with changes in the wording of census forms themselves.

In Calabasas, the number of people who identified themselves as being two or more races was 1,200, showing a growth of 48.51 percent.
