UPDATED: 3 People Hospitalized After Crash on 101 Freeway

One person is ejected from a vehicle in the accident that occurred off of Las Virgenes Road.

Three people were seriously injured when a vehicle collided with a pickup truck on Saturday, causing it to overturn on the eastbound 101 Freeway off of Las Virgenes Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident was reported at 6:30 p.m., said CHP Officer Patrick Kimball.

The driver of a 2002 Toyota 4Runner made an unsafe lane change and
struck a 1996 Dodge Ram pickup truck that overturned, Kimball said.

Pickup driver Ramiro Castillo, 41, of Canoga Park, and passenger Jose
Ruiz, 23, of Northridge, were airlifted to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center,
according to the CHP. However, Capt. Tony Moreno of the Los Angeles Fire Department stated he could not comment on the extent of the injuries.

Fernando Guzman, 45, of Canoga Park, was ejected from the truck, and
suffered broken arms and ribs, according to City News Service. He was taken to Northridge Hospital.

All lanes of the eastbound 101 Freeway were closed following the accident, but were reopened as of 9 p.m, she added.
