Armed Suspect in Custody After Barricading Inside Calabasas Home
The suspect was wanted in connection with the Aug. 11 armed robbery of a gas station in Ventura County, authorities said.

CALABASAS, CA — An armed robbery suspect who barricaded himself inside a Calabasas home was taken into custody Sunday night by a sheriff's SWAT team, authorities said.
"Armed barricaded suspect in custody. Area safe," the sheriff's Special Enforcement Bureau reported on Twitter at 11:35 p.m.
The incident began at 8:18 p.m. when Ventura County sheriff's deputies were conducting surveillance on a home in the 5900 block of Las Virgenes Road before executing a warrant to arrest 26-year-old John Marciniak, said Deputy Crystal Hernandez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Information Bureau.

Marciniak was wanted in connection with the Aug. 11 armed robbery of a gas station in Ventura County, Hernandez said.
While deputies watched the residence, "the suspect assaulted his father during an altercation," she said. "The suspect's father left the location and contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Los Hills Station."

Marciniak refused to leave the residents, prompting the SWAT team to mobilize for a barricaded suspect response, Hernandez said.
"As a precaution, evacuations were issued for those residents in the affected area," she said.
