Calabasas Gas Line Leak Prompts Fire Response
Crews headed to the scene of a natural gas line leak in Calabasas.

A backhoe caused a natural gas leak at a construction site in Calabasas this afternoon.
A construction crew was at work about 1 p.m. in the 23500 block of Park Sorrento when the 3-inch plastic gas line was damaged and began leaking, said Southern California Gas Co. spokesman Javier Mendoza.
Firefighters and Gas Co. personnel responded to the scene, he said.

No one was injured and no evacuations were ordered, but a stretch of Park Sorrento between Park Granada and Park Mirasol was closed as crews worked to stop the gas flow and repair the line.
No one’s service was interrupted, Mendoza said.
