Calabasas Gas Station Sign Falls, Traps Man

It took 20 minutes to free the man. LA Sheriff's Department is investigating why the sign fell.

A roughly 1,000-pound sign fell on a man at Mobil station in Calabasas on Friday, leaving him with serious leg injuries, a county fire inspector said.

The accident at near the Las Virgenes offramp from the Ventura (101) Freeway was reported at 10:49 a.m., Inspector Keith Mora said.

“A worker became trapped when a 1,000 pound sign fell on the person’s legs,” Mora said. “It took about 20 minutes to free the victim who was then transported to a trauma center with serious injuries to his legs.”
