Calabasas Man Charged with Rape, Impersonating Officer

Guy Dietz fled to Monterey County Friday, but was ultimately located and arrested.

A convicted sex offender who allegedly impersonated an undercover police officer and raped a woman in Torrance before fleeing to Monterey County was charged today with rape and other felonies.

Guy Dietz, 43, of Calabasas was arrested about 4:30 p.m. Friday in Soledad, according to Torrance police Sgt. Paul Kranke.

Prosecutors said Dietz arranged to have a women come to a home in Torrance on Thursday, then showed her a badge and handcuffs, claimed to be an undercover police officer and raped her.

When the woman tried to escape, he struck her, prosecutors said. The women eventually did escape and called police.

Authorities began looking for Dietz, and early Friday morning, the California Highway Patrol spotted him near King City. Dietz led CHP officers and Monterey County sheriff’s deputies on a pursuit to Soledad, where he ditched his vehicle and ran. He was eventually spotted walking down a street in Soledad and arrested.

Dietz is expected to be arraigned Wednesday on charges of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation and sexual penetration by foreign object. Prosecutors said Dietz had been free on bail in a separate case alleging he failed to register as a sex offender.

He has a 1998 rape conviction and two drug-related convictions in 2005 and 2010.
