Calabasas Man Convicted of Torrance Rape, Other Charges

A convicted sex offender was found guilty Thursday of rape and other charges stemming from an attack in Torrance in which he claimed to be an undercover police officer.
Guy Allen Dietz, 45, of Calabasas, was convicted of one count each of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation, sexual penetration by a foreign object, rape by threat to arrest or deport, oral copulation under threat to arrest and sexual penetration under threat to intimidation, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Dietz arranged to have the woman come to a home in Torrance on Aug. 28, 2014, showed her a badge and handcuffs while claiming to be an undercover police officer and raped her, according to court testimony.

The woman eventually escaped and called police, authorities said.
Authorities began looking for Dietz, and the California Highway Patrol spotted him near King City the next day. Dietz allegedly led CHP officers and Monterey County sheriff’s deputies on a pursuit to Soledad, where he ditched his vehicle and ran.

He was eventually spotted walking down a street in Soledad and arrested hours later, authorities said.
At the time of the crime, Dietz was free on bail in a case charging him with failing to register as a sex offender, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Dietz was convicted of rape in 1998 and drug-related offenses in 2005 and 2010, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
He could face up to 160 years to life in state prison, with sentencing set March 9 in a Torrance courtroom.
