Calabasas Mayor Elected To Be SCAG Representative

CALABASAS, CA - From City of Calabasas: Calabasas Mayor David J. Shapiro has been elected as the Southern California Association of Government’s (SCAG) Regional Council District 44 representative. SCAG is the nation's largest metropolitan planning organization, representing six counties, 191 cities and more than 19 million residents. SCAG undertakes a variety of planning and policy initiatives to encourage a more sustainable Southern California now and in the future.
“I am honored to have been elected by Malibu, Westlake Village, Agoura, Hidden Hills, and Calabasas to represent our best interests regarding housing, transportation and other important issues affecting our region,” said Shapiro. “Securing a safe, sustainable future is of the utmost importance.”
The Regional Council has general authority to conduct the affairs of SCAG, and implements the policy direction provided at the annual General Assembly of the membership. In addition, the Regional Council acts upon policy recommendations from SCAG policy committees and external agencies; appoints committees to study specific problems and programs; amends, decreases or increases the proposed budget to be reported to the General Assembly; and directs the actions of the agency throughout the year.
