Calabasas Miscounts Prop. 218 Results

Proposition 218 proposed an annual assessment increase of $26.88 to pay for landscape maintenance and improvements.

From the city of Calabasas:

An audit of Calabasas Park Proposition 218 ballots has determined that there
was a miscount as 27 “Yes” ballots were incorrectly tabulated as
“No” votes.

Proposition 218 proposed an annual assessment increase of $26.88
to pay for landscape maintenance and improvements. The correction changes
the vote outcome to a simple majority voting “Yes” to an assessment increase.

Audits are regularly performed to ensure that all vote counts are correct.

The tabulation is as follows:

  • Number of ballots mailed: 458
  • Total number of ballots returned: 237
  • Percentage of ballots returned: 52
  • Yes ballots: $108,120 – 136 ballots
  • No ballots: $80,295 – 101 ballots
  • Percentage voting yes: 57
  • Percentage voting no: 43%

A public hearing will be scheduled at the next Council meeting on June 25,
2014 to recount the ballots.
