Calabasas' Newest Tourist Spot: Dash

The clothing store owned by the Kardashians is a must-see spot for SoCal tourists.

Got an itch to do some sightseeing in Calabasas? Perhaps to visit the haunted grounds of the , a place steeped in tragic events? Maybe dine at the famous , where the newly divorced congregate to bathe their sorrows in half-priced margaritas and beer with deep-fried Brisket logs?

I know, with all these hot destinations, we Calabasans forget our ace in the hole, the raison d'etre of many star-struck small-screen junkies. I'm talking about Dash, the retail boutique owned and operated by our top 91302-celebrity clan, the Kardashians.

I was making a quick drop off at the post office inside the shopping center on Park Granada on Sunday when I drove past a small throng of people with cameras in the lot. They were smiling, giddily taking pictures of Dash, which was closed at the time.

Terri Patterson came out all the way out from Baltimore. I love Baltimore, have family there and know the city very well, often visiting the set of HBO’s The Wire in nearby Canton when it was up and running.

Patterson was visiting her cousin, Bill, who informed me he was related to The Wire's Stringer Reed, a Baltimore drug dealer that was portrayed by Idris Elba. How we bonded. Then I took their picture as they came equipped only with a phone camera, and the pictures weren't coming out so hot.  It was my Mitzvah for the day.

Then, as we were talking, two cherubic New Zealand girls popped into the picture.  The family hailed from New Plymouth, in the stunningly beautiful state of Taranaki, New Zealand. They shared that they were "from the Naki" and that they flew into Los Angeles, and had gone sightseeing from San Diego to Palm Springs, but this stop was the most anticipated for their daughters.

The girls, Georgia Ancell and Olivia Ancell, were cuckoo for the celebrity "goss" (gossip in New Zealand speak) in Calabasas, and wanted dirt on where to find famous people milling about.

I advised them to stake out , and where apparently Britney Spears, Leann Rimes, Joe Rogan and Nikki Sixx have these two spots on their speed dial, as well as Ralphs, where many a celebrity can be seen chit-chatting with Moe or Angela, the personable deli counter veterans.
