Man hit by car in vehicle burglary

A man was hit by a car when he tried to stop two burglars from driving away, the reported.

The man was leaving his home at Park Corona and Park Alisal at about 4:45 a.m. Nov. 9 when he spotted an unidentified male sitting in the driver’s seat of his son’s car, which was parked on the street and unlocked, deputies said. An older model Prelude was pulled up next to it with another male inside, deputies said. When the man approached them by car and asked them what they were doing, the male in his son's car got out and went into the Prelude, deputies said.

The man then got out of his car and stood in front of the Prelude to prevent the burglars from escaping, deputies said. The burglars revved their engine, causing the car to jump, striking the victim in his right leg, deputies said.

The man got back in his car to give chase but the burglars escaped, deputies said. He then searched his son’s car, noting that the car stereo faceplate appeared to have been stolen.

Deputies said they did not see any visible injuries on the victim.

The man described one of the burglars as blond with spiked hair, white, between the ages of 16 and 20 and wearing a dark baseball cap. The second burglar reportedly had black hair, was between the ages of 16 and 20, and wore a flannel shirt with dark jeans.

Deputies were investigating the incident as a petty theft and an assault with a deadly weapon.

Theft during yard sale?

More than $5,000 worth of electronics was stolen from a residence in the 5000 block of Ambridge Drive, according to deputies.

The theft occurred sometime between 9 a.m. on Oct. 22 and 2 a.m. on Oct. 23, deputies said.

The victim, who was renting the property at the time, was hosting a yard sale during most of the day and left his front door open to allow prospective buyers to come in and see what items were up for sale, deputies said.

He had placed a $3,000 Dell model M2010 laptop, an $800 iPad 2, a $300 Canon EF 70-200MM and a Canon EOS SD Mark II valued at $2,300 on his couch, deputies said. He later noticed the items were missing, deputies said.
