Childcare in the Works for Furlough Days

The LVUSD is working with a number of organizations to provide childcare during the May 24-27 furlough days.

The furlough days have been approved.

The Las Virgenes Unified School District and the Las Virgenes Educators Association have agreed to take May 24-27 off and as a result 63 teachers had their layoff notices rescinded.

And now it's on to the next challenge: What are kids and their working parents supposed to do about this sudden summer break preview?

The district is working with several outside organizations to provide childcare activities during the furlough. Most of the care focuses on elementary school up to the junior high level. The costs vary from about $200 to $350 a week.

But options as low as $42 are also available.
