Coyotes Hoops Dominates in State Playoffs Opener [VIDEO]

Calabasas High boys basketball scores an easy win over a Bakersfield high school on Thursday.

The Calabasas Coyotes prowled unfamiliar terrain in their first ever CIF state basketball playoff game, but that didn't stop them from cruising to an easy 86-56 win over Frontier of Bakersfield.

It was the Coyotes' second straight victory by 30 points, having beaten South High of Torrance seven days earlier for the CIF 3AA division championship.

Calabasas High led the entire game, opening the first quarter with a 14-2 run and never looked back.

Center Holden Israel finished with 17 points, while senior guard Spencer Levy tallied 16, according to the Ventura County Star.

Sophomore guard Jeremy Lieberman added 10 points and six assists  and sophomore forward Austim Smith had 10 rebounds and five blocked shots, the Star reports.

The Coyotes play host to St. John Bosco on Saturday in the second round of the state tournament.
